I have a Bachelors Degree in English but no job offers. Is my degree useless in today’s job market?

Anonymous asked:

For 5+ years, I have been trying to break into a career in journalism, communications, public relations or advertising with my Bachelors of English degree. I have not gotten even one call for an interview. Do the career areas listed above require more specific Bachelors Degrees than English? Or is it my lack of previous experience? It seems like all the jobs today require previous experience. There are so few entry level jobs. How am I supposed to get experience if nobody will hire me entry-level? Do you think my degree is the problem or my lack of previous experience? Or do I need to move to a small town to find an entry-level job? (I live in a large city now). I wonder if I should go back to college for a more useful degree such as Business Administration. I currently have not been able to get any jobs besides legal secretary/administrative assistant. It is humiliating working a secretarial job when I have a college degree.

Friend, the times can be tough with just the knowledge of a Language.

You got to be a successfull, person to give back to the world.

What is it you can do? Concentrate,on moving into the right direction. And,to my mind the thing for you now,is to work with your peers and concentrate on a online MBA Programme,if possible,if you have the cash.
